Cooperative learning is important to me because I feel it helps student develop social skills and introduces them to different ways of thinking. I also think it creates more hands on learning that holds student intrest. I have set up classroom to conducive to cooperative learning. Students receive whole group instruction on a carpet area. They will also work together in small groups. During center time they will have options to work together or alone and i have secured a quite area when students need time alone or downtime.

Congruent CommunicationTeachers using congruent communication do not preach or moralize to students, nor do they impose guilt or demand promises. Instead, effective classroom teachers confer dignity on their students by treating them as social equals capable of making good decisions. Congruent communication invites cooperation, expresses anger appropriately and uses appreciative rather than evaluative praise. I will use congruent communication in my classroom in the following ways.

Classroom JobsCreating Classroom Jobs for students will not only save me time and help to keep our classroom organized it will also allow students to become citizens in their classroom. When students take on responsibility in the classroom they are learning self discipline and taking responsibility for their learning. Jobs will be rotated on a biweekly basis so all students can contribute and gain responsibility.

The 3 C'sThe 3 C's should be used to help students feel a sense of belonging. When students feel they belong their are likely to be less misbehaviors. I plan to use the 3 c's in the following ways.
• Capable—that students are capable of accomplishment. Capable stresses students’ sense of “I can.” Teachers help students understand that mistakes are okay, build confidence that success is possible, make progress tangible by focusing on past successes, and recognize achievements. • Connected—that students are able to connect personally with peers and teachers. • Contributing—that students see that school has purpose that can be fulfilled better when they make contributions to the class and each other. |
